In Biometric based identification system, the authenticity of person is verified through the behavioral features of an individual. Various characteristics are utilized to identify an individual. The Iris based identification is widely accepted in highly secured regions. The only issue related with the biometric characteristics is its security. The iris biometric data is stored by medical institutes for future investigations in this field. Various numbers of researches has been done to make the iris biometrics secured but all the techniques which has yet proposed are not very much secured. In this work, a novel approach regarding the security of the template is described. This approach uses the encryption and decryption of the template for the high protection of data through RLE technique which compresses the actual size of the template as it can be easily hiding under the cover image. By performing compression over the template, data would be difficult to be hacked. Furthermore, the acquired template is hiding under the cover image using the State transition optimization algorithm. It hides the data in such a manner that the error produced should be minimized. The simulation analysis has performed using the MATLAB software. The comparisons are performed in between the traditional and proposed technique with respect to different performance parameters such as Mean Square Error, Bit Error Rate and Peak Signal to Noise ratio. From the analysis, it confirmed that proposed technique outperforms in terms of efficiency, security and accuracy as the PSNR of the proposed technique is high, MSE and BER is less.
